Let me start off by saying that I this was the first book I have read by Bella Jewel and I was totally surprised by how much I loved it! Bella is an excellent writer, the story was very well written, the characters were well developed and the storyline was gripping. I read this book in one sitting. Step-Lover is the story of Aria and Blade two people who meet and don’t see each other for a long period of time and then discover that their parents have married, making them family. The book focuses on their struggle to admit their true feeling for one another and whether or not going public with it could destroy more than just their own lives. The emotions that the characters felt really reverberated within me, there were times when I welled up with tears and I could feel my heart racing, there were also times when I got angry at Blade and then there were times when I felt my heart fill up with so much love that it would burst. I must say that I really, really loved this group of characters, even the secondary ones, I invested myself fully into each of their stories and I hope that we see spinoff books for each of these characters where we get to see more of Blade and Aria too. And though I said I loved the characters I will admit that there were times that Blade’s attitude really pissed me off but that being said I felt that his character was able to be redeemed by the conclusion of the book. As for Aria well I loved her but for a lot of the book I did feel sorry for her, what a crappy hand she was dealt with through most of her life and even in her situation with Blade but you can’t help who you love and in the end we see her where and with who she wanted to be with. “ Love finds us for reasons unknown and when it finds us, it latches on”, I couldn’t agree more! The chemistry between Blade and Aria was off the charts, the sex scenes were scorching! This book is definitely a page-turner, I highly recommend it!
